Pipe slope and grade converter

Convert pipe slope between inches per foot, percent grade and degrees, and calculate total drop over a run.

What this means

Drain lines need enough slope to carry solids but not so much that water outruns them. Converting between units helps when plans, levels and codes use different ones.

Formula used

  • % grade = in/ft ÷ 12 × 100
  • Degrees = arctan(% ÷ 100)
  • Drop = slope × length
